My son was obsessed with Lightning McQueen and the Cars movie. It's on repeat at our house. having a Cars themed party for him was really a no-brainer!

I did what I could to make it fabulous for him, but considering that I just had my daughter last month, a lot of the party elements had to be purchased rather than homemade. Despite that, I was able to squeeze in a couple of personalized touches for him to really make it special.

The invite (DIY) was designed by yours truly using a cute pic of the birthday boy, free fonts, and free clipart of Mater and McQueen.
This door sign greeted guests as they arrived.

The birthday boy specifically asked for chicken and waffles, so that's what we served. We had fried chicken and a few sides catered and set up a waffle station on one of the countertops. It was a genius idea!

It was made by Cakery Bakery, but I finished off the decorating with the candles, a Piston Cup, Lightning and Mater figurines, and the DIY Cars logo-inspired cake banner.
The Happy birthday (above) banner and Cars poster (below) came in a Cars scene setter kit ($5.99) from Party City. The Rhyle checkered banner and personalized interstate signs were DIY.
We purchased Cars party hats and Mater teeth pops for party fun and really silly pictures.
