Homerun Derby Medals

It's that time of year again! Can you smell it? Baseball season is upon us!

Our son's baseball league held festivities today to mark Opening Day. My husband was in charge of the event (he did an amazing job btw!) and he organized a Homerun Derby after the team and player introductions. As a fun surprise for the sluggers, medals were purchased from Amazon and personalized by me.
The back of the medals were plain, a.k.a. boring. I made decals with the league's logo, added the year, and description of the day with a date. Bam!
To prevent the ink from fading, running, or smearing, I ran the labels through the laminating machine and then cut them out using the Silhouette. To adhere the laminated labels to the medals, I used the every so trusty Aleen's Tacky Glue. Just a head's up: give it A LOT of time to dry. It took longer than I thought it would.

Here's all of them, one gold, silver, and bronze set for each age division!

Clearly, we used ours for a baseball event, but think of the possibilities--Olympic themed party, class competitions, Spelling Bees, Talent Shows, hula hoop competitions, eating contests, etc. I could keep going. Being able to create and DIY your own labels really turns the boring every day into something pretty fantastic!
